Now in its third year FST is delighted to invite you to apply to Step Up to learn new skills and become a mentor. Starting this autumn, FST is offering 9 subsidised, ie FREE, places for individuals from all strands of the theatre and dance sectors: staff from artistic, management, production, education and audience development backgrounds.
STEP UP was created to enable leaders and senior managers to develop mentoring skills to support junior and middle managers in projects and promoted posts across the sector, and enhance your capabilities as a manager within your own organisation.
Investing in Producing Skills
This placement programme is designed for those working across the range of producing roles from creative and commercial producers to project and general managers

This programme is flexible in its structure, allowing producers to apply for specific projects directly related to their own personal development needs.

•To build relationships between Scottish producers and their contemporaries across the globe
•To give producers the opportunity to work across the commercial and subsidised sectors
•To allow producers space to research and develop ideas
Creative Assistant Bursary
Developing Emerging Directors
Introduction
The Creative Assistant Bursary Programme is designed to support and nurture the professional creative development of individual artists by supporting a directorial attachment to an established Scottish theatre company.
This bursary programme recognises that current theatre practice embraces a wide range of professional collaborative relationships which lead to the delivery of excellence.
Therefore, FST welcomes applications for the Assistant Director bursary from individuals who may be coming from a background or experience other than that of a traditional director. That is, we welcome applications from choreographers, dramaturges and designers etc who wish to develop their skills as professional theatre directors by undertaking a placement as an Assistant Director.
It is important to identify that the main objective of this bursary scheme remains to develop the director as a creative artist and encourage the adoption of best practice. However, we hope that broadening the skills/experience background of potential applicants will enable a diversity of entry points to the scheme and simultaneously support the demands of current collaborative professional theatrical practice.
Unplugged & Unleashed
Unplugged & Unleashed
Together with Creative Scotland FST will be offering two bursaries for creative artists working in Scottish theatre. The bursaries, Unleashed (£25,000) and Unplugged (£5,000) offer a unique opportunity to support two theatre artists to develop their potential by exploring, evolving and experimenting in their practice.
