Made in Scotland 2010

Made in Scotland is a new initiative supported by the Scottish Government’s Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund to showcase Scottish-based performing arts talent in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It is a partnership between:

  • the Scottish Arts Council
  • the Federation of Scottish Theatre (FST) and
  • the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society

Made in Scotland is a curated showcase of high quality performances to promote Scottish dance and theatre artists to international promoters at the Fringe. Companies selected to take part in the 2009 Fringe were announced by Mike Russell, Minister for Culture in May .

The 2009 Made in Scotland Programming Panel:

  • Anita Clark - Head of Dance, Scottish Arts Council.
  • Sally Cowling, Director of Drama & Dance, British Council.
  • Tim Hawkins - General Manager, Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
  • Wolfgang Hoffman - Independent Producer.  Former Director of the Dublin Fringe Festival and Aurora Nova.
  • Jen McLachlan - Independant Dance Manager. 
  • Joyce McMillan - Theatre Critic for the Scotsman Newspaper, Visiting Professor, Queen Margaret University.
  • Jon Morgan - Interim Director, Federtion of Scottish Theatre.
  • Tina Rasmussan - Director, Harbourfront Centre (Canada).
  • Steve Slater - Senior Producer, Tramway Theatre Glasgow.

In addition, the Fringe and FST have developed a programme of training, support and advice to enable companies to prepare for being part of  Made in Scotland, supporting them to achieve their goals for participation, including profile and touring opportunities.

Made in Scotland 2010 – How to apply.

The Made in Scotland fund is open to applications from dance and theatre artists, companies or organisations based in Scotland for the presentation of productions as part of Made in Scotland at the Fringe in 2010. Applications can come from individual artists or from companies/organisations.

A panel of distinguished Scottish and international artists and producers has been established to advise on the development of Made in Scotland and will be responsible for curating the showcase in 2010.
