Membership of the Federation of Scottish Theatre is open to professional theatre and dance companies and venues working within Scotland and to those who work within and support the theatre and dance community. As a member of FST you would be joining a network of 120 professional performing arts organisations throughout Scotland including main house producers, presenting venues, touring companies, companies working in schools and communities, companies producing and presenting work for children, dance companies, local authority venues and educational establishments. FST undertakes strategic lobbying and advocacy on behalf of the sector to raise the profile of Scottish theatre and dance, to encourage appropriate investment and to highlight and resolve issues pertaining to the capacity and development of the theatre sector and its infrastructure. Recent activity in this area includes ongoing dialogue with Creative Scotland during the transition from SAC, liaison with the Scottish Government and other agencies around a range of opportunities and issues within the sector and lobbying in the lead up to the Holyrood Elections. FST also facilitates a wide range of networking and information sharing events including four full meetings a year and a range of other networking events, so that members are well informed and supported to develop artistic and management best practice. This work is supported by an extensive programme of training, developmental events, and mentoring and bursary programmes across a range of management, technical and artistic disciplines. FULL membership is open to professional theatre and dance companies and venues based in or working in Scotland. ASSOCIATE members include drama conservatoires, promoters’ networks and local authority venues. INDIVIDUAL membership is available to those who are freelance practitioners within theatre and dance.
