Membership of the Federation of Scottish Theatre is open to professional dance, opera and theatre companies and venues working within Scotland and to those who work within and support the dance, opera and theatre community. As a member of FST you would be joining a network of over 120 professional performing arts organisations and individuals throughout Scotland including main house producers, presenting venues, touring companies, companies working in schools and communities, companies producing and presenting work for children, dance companies, local authority venues and educational establishments. FST undertakes strategic lobbying and advocacy on behalf of the sector to raise the profile of Scottish dance, opera and theatre, to encourage appropriate investment and to highlight and resolve issues pertaining to the capacity and development of the dance, opera and theatre sector and its infrastructure. Recent activity in this area includes ongoing dialogue with Creative Scotland about its relationship with the sector, liaison with the Scottish Government and other agencies around a range of opportunities and issues within the sector, including the inclusion of Culture in the National Performance Framework. FST also facilitates a wide range of networking and information sharing events, including four members meetings a year, so that members are well informed and supported to develop artistic and management best practice. This work is supported by an extensive programme of training, developmental events, and mentoring and bursary programmes across a range of management, technical and artistic disciplines.
